In PE our aim is to develop the health and well being of young people at Whitehill. We do this by offering our pupils a varied and exciting curriculum both in the Broad General Education and Senior Phase. Pupils get the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities including individual sports, team games and aesthetic activities. Closely linked to our Physical Education curriculum, a varied school sport programme is also provided with input from all PE staff as well as other staff across the school.

In the Broad General Education, young people experience a large volume of sporting activities and the opportunity to develop physical skills and fitness within activities as well as develop cognitive skills and personal qualities. Activities that make up the Physical Education Curriculum are Gymnastics, Dance, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Athletics, Fitness, Social Dance, Softball, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton and Table Tennis.
Our main aim is to improve the pupils expertise within a variety of practical skills, encourage pupils to be responsible for their own personal health and well-being and create experiences for pupils to gain confidence and a positive feeling about respecting themselves and all others. The BGE course is designed to challenge the pupils in physical competencies, cognitive skills, personal fitness and gain personal qualities and for pupils to apply themselves by responding positively.
In the Senior Phase, young people have the opportunity to study Physical Education as a National Qualification at National 4, National 5, Higher and Level 5 & 6 NPA..
